Star Performer, Christie Fotopoulos"A role model for all new surgical employees, representing the standards of performance in everything she does," is how co-workers describe Christie Fotopoulos, RN, CNOR, our February Star Performer of the Month.

Christie began her career as a surgical nurse at LGH three years ago, and was recently promoted to evening Charge Nurse. In her role, she assigns appropriate personnel to surgical procedures, ensures a safe environment for staff and patients, and prepares supplies for the surgical day. She consistently works hard to improve her surgical skills, recently evidenced with her credentialing for Certification in OR Nursing (CNOR).

Christie is known to continually work on improving processes in the OR to smooth workflow. A self-motivated learner, Christie is dedicated to the education and support of her profession and her co-workers, and never hesitates to become involved. A proven leader, she currently serves as a "Super User" for Elmer, is a member of the Nursing Informatics Committee, and is a member of the Unit-Based OR Council that oversees nursing practice in the Operating Room.

"She represents the standards of performance in every way, and consistently goes above and beyond," says Wally Szuksta, RN, Clinical Manager in the Operating Room. "She always maintains high standards of patient care, as well as vital interpersonal skills that help establish and maintain relationships with patients, co-workers, visitors, and physicians. Surgeons find her a confident and enjoyable colleague to work with."

Christie lives in Dracut with her husband John. In her spare time, she likes to go to the beach, take long walks, work out, and is an avid football and baseball fan.
