October 2011
Laura Murnane
Service Response Center
"Even though we speak via phone, her attitude says she is smiling!" This is how co-workers describe the upbeat personality of Laura Murnane, our October Star Perfomer of the month.
Laura began her career here at LGH in 2007, and is a full-time representative in the Service Response Center. In her role, she fields requests from all over the hospital at Service Response ext. "2255". She truly represents the "One Call Does it All" mission of the SRC, as she juggles varied responsibilities while she fields service calls related to Facilities, Environmental Services, Food & Nutrition, Patient Transport, and Bio Med. She is known for her prompt service, always responding to calls with a sense of urgency.
Laura is known for her meticulous attention to detail. For example, when she takes a food service call, she will often double-check with the nurse if she believes additional documentation may be needed on diet. If a difficult call comes up, she will step in and help other co-workers research the issue until the work order is closed. She is always willing to work extra shifts or hours when needed, or will alter her schedule on the weekends to help out her co-workers and the department.
"Laura is just an awesome lady," says Helen Wilder, Supervisor, Patient Transport. "She appreciates everyone at LGH, whether it's patients, families, or other employees. Everyone is greeted with appreciation, and you can always count on her for anything. She is a great team player."
Laura lives in Billerica with her husband Ken. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her children and grandchildren, and loves a wide variety of music.
Congratulations Laura, You're a Star!
