Jennifer Costa"Always available to assist the patient, the doctor and or the family - totally dedicated to our "Patients First" culture," is how co-workers describe Jen Costa, PT, our November Star Performer of the Month.

Jen has been a full-time Physical Therapist with LGH since 2005. In her role, she conducts mobility assessments on inpatients throughout the hospital, some who have medical problems or other health-related conditions, illnesses, or injuries that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities. She works closely with Case Managers on discharge plans to ensure a smooth transition for patients after they leave the hospital.

"Jennifer is a valued member of the LGH team, and we are lucky to have her knowledge, skill set, and expertise on MS3," says Andrea Erickson, RN, Director of Inpatient Services. "She is well respected by her peers, and has no problem rolling up her sleeves to assist with a patient. She is a great asset to LGH and we are so proud to work with her every day."

Jen is known to be a real team player, a great listener, and respects the opinion and expertise of her co-workers. Her dedication always resonates to the PT team and the inpatient units she works with. For example, she was very involved during the entire Magnet site visit and was an active participant during the site survey on MS3. She is known to adjust her schedule in order to do an emergent consult, and always takes responsibility for resolving problems with optimism and accountability.

Jen lives in Dracut with her roommate Leigh and two dogs Jayla and Oakley. Her hobbies include working out, hiking, riding motorcycles, skiing/snowboarding, kayaking, camping and whitewater rafting.
