Martha Manning"From the moment she meets a patient, that patient is her entire focus," describes the caring personality of Martha Manning, RN, CRN, our November Star Performer of the Month.

Martha began her career at LGH in March of 1985 on MS2. Throughout her career, she has worked in ACU, MIU and other hospital care units. She has been an integral member of the Radiology department for the past 13 years, currently serving as Charge Nurse.

Her dedication to her profession, as well as her co-workers, is evident every day. For example, she always looks for opportunities to take on a project or issue to improve patient care or streamline and clarify communications.

"I can't begin to express Martha's tremendous sense of ownership," says Judy Erbstein, Director of Imaging Services. "She provides the best care and guarantees the patient has the best experience possible. Her pride in her work and that of her co-workers is extraordinary. She has recently been named to the board of the local chapter of the American Radiology and Imaging Nurses and represents Lowell General in the most positive frame."

To her colleagues, her contributions are immeasurable. Martha was integral in helping in the preparations for our Magnet® designation. She exudes appreciation every minute of every day and is often heard expressing appreciation to staff and radiologists. She is known for her unique ability to recognize her co-workers, mentor them, and sincerely thank them when they have helped her or a colleague.

Martha lives in Dunstable with her husband Jack and two sons. She is an avid sports fan and loves watching her sons play football and lacrosse. She has also been studying as she has returned to Rivier College to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
