Cheryl Carpenter"She's the "go-to" person in the OR; her professionalism and presentation are what we want the outside world to see." This is how co-workers describe the demeanor of Cheryl Carpenter, our December Star Performer of the Month.

Cheryl began her career in the OR seven years ago, and has expanded her job as Scheduling Secretary to include a wide array of responsibilities. She juggles many hats in her position, from scheduling surgeries, handling patient charges, preparing the OR minutes, scheduling the anesthesiologists, and compiling statistics and OR reports. Her customers are many - patients and their families, surgeons, physician's offices, nursing staff, and managers - and she treats them all with respect and a positive attitude.

"I cannot begin to express the many compliments I have received from the surgeons' offices, OR staff, and managers throughout the hospital," says Jerry Dargie, RN, Clinical Manager of Surgical Support. "Her professional relationship with the surgeons and their offices makes her a fantastic liaison, she's the one they call for help if there's ever any issues regarding scheduling or instrumentation. She's always prepared to ensure the surgeons have what they need to make the day flow smoothly."

Cheryl is a premier resource for "anything related to computers" in the OR, particularly the Surginet application of ELMER. She traveled to Kansas City to train before the ELMER Go-live, and always helps staff with any questions. She is known as a problem-solver, and played an integral role in the OR's transitioning to ELMER.

Cheryl lives in Tyngsboro, MA and is currently pursing her Bachelor's degree in Accounting at Hesser College in Nashua. In her spare time she loves to travel to Florida, hang out with friends, go to the beaches, and visit her sister in California.
