Meet the childbirth education team at Lowell General Hospital. With years of experience and thousands of deliveries, they are here to help makes yours special. These dedicated nurses teach on-site education programs here at Lowell General Hospital and many are part of the regular team of caregivers on the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Infant Unit at The Birthplace. Doreen Gallant

Doreen Gallant, RN, BSN

 Doreen is an advocate for breast feeding success and program development at Lowell General Hospital. With fellow lactation consultant, Laurie Sanz, she leads the hospital's breast feeding support group and is a regular advisor to the new mothers support group.

   

Melissa Lough, RN

Extra: Melissa is a registered nurse and has been with Lowell General Hospital since 2008. She worked in the Special Care Nursery for four years and then became a maternal child health float. She started her nursing career at Children's Hospital in Boston in the neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Melissa has great experience and a wealth of knowlegde in this field and loves teaching families during the happiest, special and most memorable time in their lives!

 Gail is a long-time member of the LGH Birthplace family. With 41 years as an obstetrics nurse and a childbirth educator since 1981, she brings her experience and ever-expanding knowledge to new mothers. Gail brought the hypnobirthing technique of childbirth preparation and delivery to Lowell General and is a valued resource.
