Meet the childbirth education team at Lowell General Hospital. With years of experience and thousands of deliveries, they are here to help makes yours special. These dedicated nurses teach on-site education programs here at Lowell General Hospital and many are part of the regular team of caregivers on the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Infant Unit at The Birthplace. If you have a question that hasn't been answered in a class or online session, we invite you to ask it here online.

Laura Cino, RN
Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Certified Birth Assistant
Focus area(s): Labor & Delivery; Newborn Care
Extra: Having an understanding of what to expect gives you confidence when advocating for yourself. Knowledge can help reduce the anxiety and stress of being a new parent.
Doreen Gallant, RN, BSN
Certifications: International Board of Lactation Consultants
Focus area(s): Breast feeding, breast feeding support
Extra: Doreen is an advocate for breast feeding success and program development at Lowell General Hospital. With fellow lactation consultant, Laurie Sanz, she leads the hospital's breast feeding support group and is a regular advisor to the new mothers support group.
Candy Martell, LPN
Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support, Certified Lactation Advisor
Focus area(s): Childbirth education
Extra: Candy has been on the Mother/Infant unit at Lowell General for fourteen years and has been teaching childbirth education for five years. She is completing her RN degree and brings her experience in well-mother and newborn care to those in the Birthplace as well as the childbirth education programs.
Susan Martin, RN
Certifications: International Board of Lactation Consultants, HypnoBirthing Certified Educator
Focus area(s): Breastfeeding, Hypnobirthing, New mothers support groups, Baby & Me Exercise
Extra: Susan has twenty-two years of childbirth education experience and has helped hundreds of women and their babies be successful with breastfeeding.
Linda Miller, RN
Certifications: Basic Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program
Focus area(s): C-section, labor and delivery
Extra: Knowing what to expect with childbirth and a cesarean section (c-section)can eliminate a lot of fears and concerns. Linda is an excellent resource to understanding the special considerations for a c-section delivery and the post-surgery aspects.
Gail Noonan, RN
Certifications: DONA-certified doula; HypnoBirthing Certified Educator
Focus area(s): Hypnobirthing
Extra: Gail is a long-time member of the LGH Birthplace family. With 41 years as an obstetrics nurse and a childbirth educator since 1981, she brings her experience and ever-expanding knowledge to new mothers. Gail brought the hypnobirthing technique of childbirth preparation and delivery to Lowell General and is a valued resource.
Laurie Sanz, RN
Certifications: International Board of Lactation Consultants
