ABOUT INTERNET PRIVACY
The Internet, while a useful tool in learning about health information, is not always private. Health information you seek on the web can be tracked, and may be used in direct marketing, or potentially sold to or shared with other commercial enterprises.
As a general rule:
- It is recommended by the Health Science Library that persons with concerns about privacy around Internet health information should carefully review the privacy policies of the websites they enter before searching for information therein. Be aware that privacy policies of individual websites are subject to change.
- Do not provide your name, email address, or other personal information to any website.
- If you desire anonymity in conducting Internet searches pertaining to health, search from a public terminal, such as one provided in a public, health sciences, or academic library, not your home computer. Do not provide personal information while doing so.
