Star Performer, Marta Colon"Proactive and always going above and beyond the call of duty" is how co-workers describe our May Star Performer of the Month, Marta Colon.

Marta has worked in the Environmental Services Department at LGH for two years. In this time, she has shown a tremendous pride of ownership in her job and an amazing "can-do" attitude. Co-worker Rebecca Kesmetis of the Dietary Department describes Marta as always having a smile on her face and a great attitude. She recalls a time when Marta was asked to help out on another floor. She said "I wouldn't like to help out, I would love to help out!"

Marta is always smiling and genuinely cares about her fellow employees. For example, she always asks how their day is going and how they are feeling. "She is always concerned about you and goes the extra mile to make your day," says Rebecca. She takes special care to know everyone's name on the floors she works.

Maureen Hovey of the Pharmacy Department says that Marta shows pride in her work and takes personal responsibility for her job each and every day. Even when Marta is assigned to a different floor, she still stops in the Pharmacy to make sure they have everything they need. She describes Marta as a true team player. "If there is a meeting in the Pharmacy, she will check when the best time is to return. She is so proactive and professional," says Maureen. "There's nothing that Marta wouldn't do for this hospital."

Marta lives in Lowell, and has two daughters and two grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her loveable dog Rocky. Marta travels to Ohio on occasion to visit her grandchildren.
