Star Performer, Lisa Sweeney"An unsung hero of The Cancer Center" is how co-workers describe Lisa Sweeney, LPN, our September Star Performer of the Month.

Lisa, a nurse with LGH for over 17 years, currently works with the Medical Oncology team at The Cancer Center. Lisa brings strong commitment and attention to detail to her position each day, along with expert patient care and customer service. In her role, she coordinates all the nurses, support staff, and doctors. She has a reputation as being "on top of everything" to keep the busy oncology doctors on schedule. She is known to foster teamwork with the doctors and staff, and brighten a patient's visit with her sense of humor.

"She comes out with these one-liners that can break any tense moment," says co-worker Janet Griffin, RN. Janet says that Lisa is candid, honest, and has a keen sense for looking squarely at problems and making improvements. She verbally and nonverbally shows support to patients, and recognizes those times when a comforting hug is all they need.

Claudia Rupp, Director of Patient Care, Cancer Center, says Lisa is a seasoned professional and strong asset to her team. She is known to guide and support her fellow employees, as well as devising creative solutions to problems. Her "can-do" personality inspires her team to be the best. "The word ‘no' just isn't part of her vocabulary," says Claudia.

Lisa lives in Merrimack, NH, with her husband Jack. She enjoys spending time with her two sons, Matthew, 25, and Bryan, 22, as well as working in the garden and baking.
